OUR HISTORY
AEL Electrical – Global Specialists in the Supply of IEC, IECEx & ATEX Electrical Equipment
1981
Incorporation of company. Services are limited to specialising in installation of security alarms and electronic repairs.
1983
Graeme Mackie takes over as CEO and company is rebranded as an electrical supply company, specialising in the supply of European Electrical Equipment – AEL is born.
1984
Due to continued interest in AEL service capabilities from current and prospective customers, AEL establishes its first office & warehousing space in Victoria Road, Torry, Aberdeen.
1990
AEL relocates to Unit 3, Altens Lorry Park in Aberdeen to allow for further growth with increased stocking capabilities.
2005
AEL invests further by acquiring further office space at Unit 4 Altens Lorry Park in Aberdeen. This additional space allows for further stock investment and increased office space.
2010
Due to further growth locally and internationally AEL relocates Headquarters to Bridge of Don in Aberdeen. This provides double the capacity of space to allow for further growth.
2012
Company establishes presence in Houston, looking to expand into US market, with our expertise in the supply of hazardous area electrical products.
2013
Company initiates entrance into Azerbaijani and Middle East market.
2014
Growing demand in the Middle East market prompts opening of office in Baku.
2015
Continued demand and success in the US market leads to incorporation of AEL Americas Inc with base in Houston, Texas.
2017
Company initiates entrance to market in Mexico.
2019
Introduction of a Subsea & Renewable division, adding to AEL’s portfolio of services.
2020
Continued growth in US prompts move to larger office and warehouse space in Houston.
2021
Celebrating 40 Years in Business.
2022
Continued growth and demand in Mexico prompts move to larger office space.
